I'm passionate about K-pop's ability to uplift and inspire. In fact, my love for music is what inspired me to understand more about the brain and the psychology of well-being. Playing piano, listening to music and a love of making art has always helped me find balance and happiness.
These things were life-savers during those critical developmental tween years spent at home during the pandemic. The world was struggling psychologically, confronting social inequities and the planet's biological fate. It's no wonder teens were increasingly facing depression, anxiety, social media toxicity. For me, creative pursuits in music, art, fashion, even cooking, were important strategies for thriving.
During this time, I became more fascinated with the science of well-being, the psychology and neuroscience behind it. I began exploring psychology through classes, internships, and even my own independent research on music and stress. I am now a Wellness Leader in my community. I am learning more everyday about the profound impact music, arts, and community can have on mental health, especially for young people. I am an amateur, but the world of well-being is fascinating and I think it's worth sharing in case it can benefit others.
So I created a space where these things come together. K-PopPlus is where K-Pop fans can not only enjoy their passion but also discover valuable tools for fostering their own well-being.
I try to incorporate all I'm learning on emotional and mental well-being. But I am not a doctor! So insights shared here often come from other qualified sources (cited). One of the best sources on well-being is the Jed Foundation (JED). This US nonprofit is focused on mental health and "equips teens and young adults with the skills and knowledge to help themselves and each other."
This site also foster happiness through the contagious "helper's high" – you can feel good knowing when you buy through our links because we donate ALL affiliate commissions to the Jed Foundation. 🌟💖
